The Housekeeping Department strives to maintain an environment that is clean, neat and safe and free from all odours. Regular housekeeping is provided to ensure Dundas Manor is maintained in a clean and presentable way for residents, visitors and staff. Resident rooms and public areas are thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis by staff.

Privacy for all residents and respect for them, as well as their personal belongings, are essential while cleaning and sanitizing residents’ rooms.

Limited space is provided for storage. Luggage, boxes and excessive clutter are a safety hazard for the residents and staff.

Our Laundry Department operates seven days a week. Laundry staff provide laundry services for machine-washable clothing as well as all linens. On admission, staff will label resident clothing for identification purposes. Any newly purchased clothing must be brought to the office for labelling.

Staff will set aside any clothing that is either in need of repair or beyond repair. It will be placed in the resident’s closet for the family to take home.

All laundry is done on the premises and this service is included in the accommodation rate. We recommend robust wash and wear clothing that is easy to put on and take off.

The Maintenance Department ensures that the building is kept in good working order. All electrical, plumbing, heating or other maintenance problems should be reported to the nurse in charge as they are noticed. The maintenance staff will take care of the problem on a priority basis.

Maintenance staff regularly conduct preventative maintenance on all equipment in the manor to ensure safety for all residents.

Staff also assist residents in setting up televisions, radios and other electronics for residents. All furniture and electronics must be approved by the maintenance supervisor before being brought to Dundas Manor.

Residents wishing to use the Internet may use our resident dedicated computer located in the Gathering Place lounge. The Activity Team also has to iPads for resident use with support from staff. We encourage residents to use technology. This may be an option to keep in contact with a loved one far away.
