One Patient, One Chart: More hospitals will join the Epic digital health records system in Eastern Ontario

April 09, 2025

Health-care providers at 16 partner sites will have access to patient health information, enhancing care across the region

In 2022, WDMH embarked on a journey to bring the Epic digital health record to the patient’s bedside. This connected us with several hospitals throughout the region, including The Ottawa Hospital, and enabled us to securely store, access and share patient health information. This partnership allowed for more seamless patient care throughout the community/region and provided our patients with ‘MyChart’ access...a way to see your own appointment information and medical records.

In 2026, six more sites in Eastern Ontario will join the Epic system with the TOH group, known as the Atlas Alliance. By connecting more hospitals and health-care partners through a single digital health records system, the Atlas Alliance continues working to improve patient care through strong partnerships and collaboration, contributing to a more efficient, patient-centered health system.
What does this mean for WDMH and you, our patients? “Patients often visit multiple hospitals throughout the region, for varying levels of care. Now, they won’t need to worry about their care teams having the most up-to-date information on their health situation,” said Dr. Virginia Roth, Chief of Medical Staff, The Ottawa Hospital. “A single digital health records system will allow patients to access their health information through MyChart and help health-care partners in the region to share information, resources and support in a timely manner. We believe this will lead to better overall patient care and health outcomes.”

Once completed, the Atlas Alliance will be a network of 16 partner hospitals listed below (joining partners are in bold).
