Our Strategic Plan & Priorities
Strategic Plan
The strategic plan was developed by a Strategic Planning Steering Committee composed of staff, physicians, volunteers, and patients, in collaboration with the WDMH Board of Directors. The process included extensive research and consultation.
This Strategic Plan reconfirms our team’s commitment to patient and family-centred care. It sets our path and our priorities, with a focus on four central themes: Quality/Services, Our People, Partnerships/Integration, and Accountability.
Strategic Priorities
The 2024/2025 Strategic Priorities include:
Quality/Services
- Meet Patient Care Improvement Plan (PCIP) and Senior Friendly Plan targets
- Implement at least one RNAO (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario) spotlight best practice
- Achieve Exemplary Accreditation
- Continue advocating for government approval for an MRI
Our People

Focus on retention of our people including:
- Providing a broader range of education and professional development opportunities
- Exploring more options for on-site wellness activities
- Act on the results of the staff and physician retention surveys
- Continue to pursue strategies to prevent workplace incidents
- Reconfigure clinical units
Partnerships/Integration
- Continue to work actively with regional partners, including collaboration with Dundas Manor and the Great River Ontario Health Team
Accountability
- Focus on hospital costs
- Explore new technologies, such as artificial intelligence
- Review, communicate and act on findings of critical events
