Day Surgery Unit
Your care partner will be contacted by the Day Surgery staff and may come into the Day Surgery Unit (DSU). You will be given something to drink and assessed for pain and nausea. The Registered Nurse will give you medication for pain and nausea as needed.
The Nurse will get you out of bed and walk with you.
Your intravenous (IV) will be removed and you will be assisted to dress. Your care partner may help you dress.
The Nurse review your post-operative instructions with you and your care partner. If you are given a prescription, please ensure that it is filled as soon as possible.
The person driving you home will be asked to bring the vehicle to the front entrance. You will be accompanied to that entrance in a wheelchair and assisted into the vehicle as needed.
